I went with a friend to see the movie, “Mama Mia” the other day. I’m not a huge Abba fan and I would probably not have gone to see this movie on my own but it’s the movie my friend wanted to see, so we saw it.
It was amusing at times. The plot line, of course, was pretty silly. If you could get past that, though, it was really quite a bit of fun to see Meryl Streep and a couple of other older gals ham it up singing and dancing.
Meryl looks amazing for her age and I don’t think she’s had any plastic surgery, either. I think it’s because she’s stayed out of the sun, smart girl that she is. And she can sing, she really can. She has a very nice voice. Colin Firth (the man of my dreams
) sings well, too. Pierce Brosnan doesn’t sing so well, but he is still dashingly handsome and that more than makes up for his lack of vocal ability.
The younger stars in the movie (who I can’t even name) were okay given the material they had to work with, but they gave the movie a sort of “High School Musical” touch. If there is any movie worse than “High School Musical,” it would have to be “High School Musical 2.”
All in all, though, I’m glad I went to see “Mama Mia,” even though it was pretty silly and corny. It was worth it to see/hear Meryl Streep, Christine Baranski, and the other older gal sing and dance Abba’s “Dancing Queen.” It made me feel like I can still be a Dancing Queen, too. :)
